Thyristor Switching Module (TSM)

Product overview
Thyristor Switching Module (TSM) is a high-speed, solid-state switching device designed for dynamic power factor correction and reactive power compensation in industrial electrical systems.
It uses inverse-parallel-connected silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) with synchronized triggering and control circuitry to switch capacitor banks rapidly and without mechanical contacts.
The module enables capacitor banks to be switched ON and OFF within milliseconds, making it suitable for installations with rapidly fluctuating reactive power demand. By synchronizing SCR triggering with the supply voltage and capacitor-bank conditions, the TSM helps minimize switching transients, inrush current and electrical disturbances associated with conventional contactor-based switching.
The assembly typically incorporates SCR power devices, heat sinks, gate-triggering and synchronization circuits, electrical connections, and thermal protection provisions. When integrated with a compatible APFC controller and correctly designed capacitor bank, the TSM provides fast, frequent and contactless switching for improved power factor control, reduced switching wear and reliable operation under demanding industrial conditions.
